Long manufactured in France, Peugeots are also manufactured outside our borders. The Sochaux brand has nevertheless chosen to keep a certain proximity with Europe, while Renault, Citroën or DS also bring in certain models from Asia.
For a long time already, a French brand no longer necessarily rhymes with production in France. Renault thus manufactures its Arkana and the Koleos in South Korea, but its Zoé in the Flins factory, not far from Paris, and the new Mégane E-Tech Electric like the future R5 in Douai, in the North. Citroën assembles its best-selling C3 in Slovakia and brings its luxurious C5 X from China, while the C5 Aircross SUV was born near Rennes. What about the Lion brand?

The little models go abroad
Who says small model, says lower margin and production cost to control. It is therefore logical that the 108 was found in the Kolin factory in the Czech Republic. It shared its production line with its cousins Citroën C1 and the Toyota Aygo. Its production ended in December 2021, and the mini-city car will not be replaced. Its big sister, the 208, the best-selling car in France, is manufactured in the Trnava plant in Slovakia, but also in Morocco at the Kenitra site. A situation that should change with the arrival of its restyled version. The electric variant e-208 will be produced in 2023 at the Zaragoza plant in Spain along with its technical cousin, the Opel Corsa. The 2008 SUV is also a follower of the language of Cervantes. It comes off the chains of the Vigo factory, just like the brand’s MPV, the Rifter. The latter and its utility equivalent Partner can, moreover, come from the Portuguese chains of Mangualde.
Utilities in the 4 corners of Europe
Are you riding in Traveler or Expert? Cocorico, they are entirely produced in the Sevelnord factory in Hordain in the north of France. A site specializing in light utility vehicles: it also assembles clones such as the Citroën Jumpy/SpaceTourer, Toyota ProAce, Opel Vivaro/Zafira Life or even the new Fiat Scudo/Ulysse.
For the Boxer big brother, this time heading for Italy and the town of Val Di Sangro. It is assembled in the historic Sevelsud factory of its technical cousin, the Fiat Ducato. To meet demand, the Stellantis group converted the Polish factory in Gliwice. The latter produced until then the old Opel Astra, and benefited from an investment of more than 280 million for its modernization. The Boxer will be built there from spring 2022, the entire Opel Movano.
Made in France in the spotlight
For the rest of its production, Peugeot remains faithful to France. If the last 308 left Sochaux, it was to join the 508 on the Mulhouse site. The historic Sochaux factory is dedicated to the production of the 3008, which will be the case for the future generation (P64), expected by the end of 2023 with an unprecedented 100% electric version. Part of the 5008 comes from the same place, but this seven-seater SUV is also produced near Rennes, alongside the Citroën C5 Aircross. The next generation (P74) will only be assembled in Sochaux from 2024.
