A Peugeot J7 restored and transformed into a motorhome in the colors of those who accompanied the Tour de France in the 1970s is currently for sale in the Netherlands. This atypical recreational vehicle asks for €44,950.
The Dutch collector’s vehicle sales site E&R Classics currently has a somewhat unusual Peugeot J7 in its inventory. This copy of the lion utility, dating from 1974, has been transformed into a motorhome. It has also undergone a complete restoration. And to top it off, its livery pays homage to the assistance vans of Peugeot bicycles which were engaged in the Tour de France in the 1970s.
Everything to escape
Rare today, the Peugeot J7 was the delight of many professionals between 1965 and 1980 thanks in particular to its sliding front doors. It now offers an alternative to the Citroën Type H and Renault Estafette for collectors. The one in question here is powered by a refurbished 1.8 petrol four-cylinder.
The rear part of its cabin is equipped with a table and two benches, elements that can be transformed into a bed for two. A two-burner stove, refrigerator, tap with sink and chemical toilets are also part of his equipment.or everything you need to go on an adventure.
A retro decoration
The style of the interior furniture, typical of the 1970s, is in phase with the exterior of the vehicle. On the gray bodywork were affixed checkered stripes, the logos of Peugeot’s partners at the time such as Michelin and Esso, and various decorations taken from the J7 of the Tour de France.
In total, the transformation and repair of the vehicle required 3,000 hours of work over two years from its previous owner. This four-wheeled time travel is priced at €44,950.
TO HAVE. Pick-ups: such French know-how!
