Electric makes a place for itself in the 208 range
In terms of engines, the Peugeot 208 offers a range including gasoline, diesel, but also a purely electric offer. Thanks to the aid offered by the State, the battery-powered version is at the level of the diesel offer (19% of the mix). She even allows herself to climb on the 3e walk of the podium for best sales of electric vehicles in France over the first six months of 2021.
With 9,133 registrations, it is placed behind the untouchables Renault Zoé and Tesla Model 3. Unsurprisingly, it is gasoline that attracts the most customers with 62% of the choices, and in this category, the PureTech 100 hp represents almost half of the 208 purchases. Note that this engine is mostly chosen in its manual gearbox version (29%). All in all, the automated gearbox nevertheless represents 35% of overall 208 purchases. Mid-range finish favored by buyers
When choosing the finish, buyers are more likely to orient themselves towards the middle of the range: Style (23%). They thus have a well-equipped version which incorporates automatic air conditioning and Apple CarPlay-Android Auto compatibility of the Active offer, by adding alloy rims, electric rear windows as well as on the e-208, radars. reversing and rain sensor. The second most chosen finish is the top of the range GT (18%) which gives access to the reversing camera, Full LED optics (the look with the three claws) and the 10-inch touch screen. THEThe Pack associated with the Allure finish represented 10% of the sales mix until May, before disappearing from the catalog.
Pragmatic options
In terms of options, buyers’ choices are quite pragmatic. Thus, the top 5 includes: the provision of the spare wheel (20 €). It is simply the hooking system to install the additional wheel which is available as an accessory. Hands-free access (350 €) is also on the list. Peugeot resumes here a bad habit of high-end German manufacturers which have been separating this equipment from hands-free starting for a few years now. The reversing camera (260 €) makes it possible to enhance the Allure offer. Navigation on the 7-inch touchscreen, available between € 850 and € 1,000 depending on the version (Like, Active and Allure), completes this list. Note that mobile phone induction charging is no longer available in the model catalog, due to semiconductor shortage. A piece of equipment, however, among buyers’ favorites.
