The Peugeot 2008 is the best-selling SUV in France during the first half of 2021. If it is available in gasoline, diesel and electric, find out which engines are preferred by buyers, as well as the finishes and options most often chosen.
On the French SUV market, all segments combined, the situation is similar to that of city cars: the Peugeot 2008 is ahead of its great rival, the Renault Captur. However, the difference is much more significant than between the 208 and Clio, with more than 8,000 more registrations for the lion’s offer. But what are the favorite versions of the French? Is the electric version as popular as it is for the city car? Argus takes stock of the choices of Peugeot 2008 buyers during the first half of 2021.
Gasoline dominates, electric skates
The Peugeot 2008 offers a range built on the same pattern as that of the 208: gasoline, diesel, electric. The powers offered by the SUV are however higher than that of the city car, and it has an additional diesel version. The most popular engine, the PureTech 130 (BVM and EAT), represents 36% of registrations. Then come the two diesel (110 and 130 hp) which are held in a pocket square (20 and 21%). The most powerful offer, the PureTech 155, attracted only 1% of buyers in 2008. As for the electric offer, e-2008, while it represented nearly 18% of sales of the 208 over the period, it only reached 7% of the total 2008 mix. On the other hand, the automated gearbox is clearly more popular on the SUV (74% of sales), while it only represents 37% of registrations on the 208.
The privileged top of the range
When choosing the finish, buyers turn more readily to the top of the basket: the GT offer represents 23% of the mix. It is easily recognized by its front LED light signature forming claws. In addition, the 10 ” touchscreen appears on this version. The mid-range (Allure) only shows 16% of sales. On the other hand, with the addition of the Packs on these two finishes, the forces are balanced at 29%. As for the entry-level Active finish, it does not attract crowds (5%), unlike the versions intended for professionals: 32% of sales.

Practical equipment above all
In terms of the options chosen, buyers of the 2008 are as pragmatic as those of the 208. Thus the provision of the spare wheel (20 €) allows, in a second step to be able to have a space in the event of a puncture, at an additional cost. The reversing camera is only available as standard from the GT offer. Before that, you have to go through the Visio Park 1 Pack (260 €) to have it. The same goes for navigation on the 7 ” touchscreen which claims between 850 and 1000 € under the GT finish. The prize for hands-free access invoiced 350 €, including on the GT finish … As for induction charging, despite the enthusiasm of buyers for this equipment, it is temporarily unavailable in the catalog.
