Community HIV testing as part of ANRS-COM’TEST is part of biomedical research and is only intended for men aged at least 18 years who have sex with other men.
The particularity of this screening is that it is community-based and carried out with rapid tests:
– Community means that this action is carried out by activists of the AIDES association, that is to say people who feel concerned by their health and propose actions to improve it. They are not medical personnel.
– With rapid tests means that the result is available within ½ hour. A simple drop of blood taken from the fingertip and then placed on a reading device is sufficient to perform the test.
As part of the ANRS-COM’TEST research, we offer HIV testing hotlines once or twice a week in the premises of AIDES or partner LGBT associations.
In all cases, you will be welcomed by an AIDES volunteer who will:
– will present the research
– distribute information documents
– have an informed consent signed if you agree to participate in the study
It takes 1h30 to 2h between the start and the end of the rapid community screening.
This study presents two major advances: it is the first time in France that biomedical research is based on associative expertise; It is also the first time that AIDS screening has been offered in a non-medical setting (the current legal context prohibits screening carried out by non-medical personnel outside the framework of research).
Where to get tested?
If you are a man who has relationships with other men and you are over 18, you can get tested through biomedical research in the following cities. Warning ! You have to be available for two hours.
