I have been suffering from severe pain in the Achilles tendon for some time now. It is also swollen and sometimes even has a ‘bulb’ on it. My doctor has already prescribed me anti-inflammatories, ointment and pads, but nothing helps. I don’t exercise, so it can’t be that.

Anouk Jannes, podiatrist:
Dear Liliane,
Annoying that so far nothing helps with regard to the pain in the Achilles tendon. Possible advice for this is to have a physiotherapist / podiatrist take a look at this pain complaint. There can be various causes by which the pain is maintained: deviation of the foot position, increased load, incorrect footwear, increased tension of the calf muscle. The physiotherapist/podotherapist can conduct an examination for you and work in a targeted manner by means of, for example, shoe advice, taping, dry needling, podiatric orthotics, exercises, etc.
If you have any questions, you can always contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Anouk Jannes
