In the ranking of countries the happiestin the world, Norway wins the Palme d’Or. The latest edition of World Happiness report which measures the subjective well-being of the inhabitants of countries around the world dedicates Norway to the first place of the podium. The other four places in the top 5 are in order Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Finland.
Norway came first in 2017 after stagnating in second place in 2015 and 2016. Last year it was Denmarkwho had occupied the first place. What about France then? Could do better since it arrives at the 31st place of the World Happiness ranking.
Africa, at the back of the pack
This ranking is made on the basis of subjective questions asked to a panel of 1,000 people each year in more than 150 countries. The evaluation tool is based on a scale of 0 to 10, from which the respondent must imagine where according to him his life would be the most unhappy (0) and where it would be the most fulfilling possible (level 10). Other elements are taken into account such as economic income per capita, life expectancy in good health, social assistance, generosity, individual freedoms, corruption …
If Europe takes the highest places on this top-list, Africa comes at the back of the pack: Liberia, Guinea, Togo, Rwanda, Syria, Tanzania, Burundi, Central African Republic.
