We are starting to get used to “challenges” on social networks: often not very smart, these challenges (unfortunately very popular) can even be dangerous for health.
Exactly: on TikTok, the new beauty trend consists in passing a frozen cucumber on the face … Popularized by an American influencer, this “miracle trick” would make it possible to almost instantly fade dark circles and redness, and even to “revitalize” the skin.
The risk ? A cold burn (or even frostbite)
First thing to know: yes, the cold can be good for the skin. By stimulating the (micro) blood circulation, it accelerates cell renewal, eliminates toxins accumulated in the tissues and evens out the complexion. Cucumber, on the other hand, is also a good ally for the skin: composed mainly of water, it is known to soothe redness and to hydrate the epidermis.
Yes, but there you go: rubbing the skin of your face with a frozen cucumber is a bad idea. The risk is cold burn: very thin and very fragile, the skin of the face can start to blister a few hours after application … There is also a real risk of frostbite.
Want to do some good for your skin? Instead, try our “radiance” mask based on cucumber, honey and crème fraîche. Mix 5 slices of peeled cucumber, 1 tbsp. to c. honey and 1 tsp. to s. fresh cream: apply the mixture on the face and the neck, then leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. An anti-inflammatory, healing, moisturizing and nourishing mask.
