In case of fatigue and loss of concentration, South Korean high school students will have to bet on something other than coffee and drinks made from cafeteria to stay awake. Since 2013, schools had already officially prohibited students from these very coffee drinks. But the students had found the solution by going to obtain supplies from distributors reserved for the teaching staff.
Prevent overconsumption of coffee among students
With this deletion, the South Korean Ministry of Food Security and Medicines prides itself on wanting to protect the health of students. “These regulations are aimed at creating healthier eating habits in children and adolescents,” said an official, quoted by West France.
Students tend to consume caffeine in excess during exams in order to stay up late at night, points out the ministry which highlights the harmful consequences of this overconsumption: heart palpitations, nausea, sleep disorders, nausea, dizziness, etc.
The developing neurological and cardiovascular systems could also suffer from excess caffeine, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, reported by CNN.
