Versatile as you wish, vans are on the rise. In the vein of the Volkswagen California, the Nissan Primastar – a Japanese clone of the Renault Trafic – is in turn embarking on the adventure with the benevolent help of the German specialist Dethleffs. A model whose launch in France is under study.
More than ever, vans are on the rise. Among the different motorhome formats, vans with a gauge close to 5 m long for a height of less than 2 m stand out thanks to their versatility. Their ability to move around town with relative ease and a certain discretion is not unrelated to their success either.

The latest to date, the Nissan Primastar Seaside is following in the footsteps of the Volkswagen California. The layout of the passenger compartment of the Japanese is ultimately quite close to that of the German, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that in this limited area the possibilities of saving space are not infinite.
Nissan Primastar, the new van for campers

The Japanese van – a clone of the Renault Trafic with the grille and the bumper – passed into the hands of the German specialist Dethleffs, who thus adds a string to his bow. Creator of caravans for ninety years, it has been manufacturing motorhomes since 1983. With the Seaside, Dethleffs is venturing into the very buoyant niche of converted vans, the gateway to the leisure vehicle market. The diamond utility is already well established in the niche. It can be found in creations emanating directly from the manufacturer: production models (SpaceNomad, SpaceClass), chic and electric concept car Hippie Caviar… or carried out by independent fitters.

6 places during the day, 4 places at night

The Nissan Primastar Seaside retains a capacity for six people in road mode and four beds for the night. A double bed appears inside the vehicle by flattening the rear seat, and a second double bed is housed on the roof via the retractable alcove, which also allows you to stand up in the living room and kitchen. The front seats are swivel and make up a lounge area when the table is set.

The galley has a 36 l capacity fridge, complete with a gas stove with two burners. Storage spaces abound. Under the hood, the Nissan Primastar Seaside, based on the Tekna finish, leaves the choice between two diesel engines of 150 and 170 hp. Question transmission, manual gearbox and automatic gearbox are on the program. An 8-inch diagonal touch screen, as well as driving aids (speed limiter-controller, blind spot assistance, etc.) complete the dot.
The model will be marketed in several European markets, including Germany. Nissan indicates that its arrival in France is under study.
