Millennium Jade is also back
Real fans recognize the colors immediately. Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade – known from the Skyline – are back on the Nissan GT-R. Although the purple seems to have a little more green than before. The Japanese brand lubricates the paintwork on the new Nissan GT-R T-Spec, which is available as a Premium Edition or as a Track Edition. For now, Nissan is not talking about the last copies, so it seems that the GT-R will remain with us for a while.
The features
The Nissan GT-R T-Spec gets carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon fiber rear spoiler and light Rays wheels. The GT-R with the Premium package is a bit more chic in the interior. In this version, the tires are slightly wider for smoother handling, Nissan believes. The Track Edition can be recognized by the carbon fiber roof and tailgate. In total, Nissan builds only 100 copies of the T-Spec.
The Nissan GT-R T-Spec is not a Nismo
Although Nissan officially calls the sportiest version the ‘Track Edition engineered by Nismo’, this is not a Nismo version of the GT-R. Engine wise, the brand does not change the Nissan GT-R T-Spec. The 3.8-liter V6 with two turbos with an automatic transmission produces its usual 570 horsepower. The ‘real’ GT-R Nismo produces 600 horsepower and remains the most powerful of the bunch, for now.
The end of the Nissan GT-R?
For years we have thought that the end is near for the GT-R and every time Nissan proves otherwise. The car has been in production since 2007 and is therefore very old, although it still comes along quite nicely in terms of specifications. Presumably, the plans for a successor keep changing with the new environmental requirements, making the future uncertain. Fortunately, you can still enjoy the current GT-R for the time being.
