If we are to believe the latest rumors, Google will soon release a new version of Google Nest Wifi with WiFi 6.
A source reported this to the editors of 9to5Google† That source reports that the design of the new mesh WiFi system harks back to the first version of Google Wifi: pucks.
In addition, it should be possible to buy the pucks individually or in packs of two or three; just what you need for your own home, of course. However, it is not yet clear whether this version of Nest Wifi also has a speaker with the Google Assistant on board, like the current version.
WiFi 6, and then WiFi 6th?
In addition to WiFi 6, we now also have a new variant of the wireless protocol: WiFi 6e. The new Google Nest Wifi system may also support that protocol.
Wifi 6 supports download speeds of up to 9.6 Gbps. Wifi 5 is currently stuck at 3.5 Gbps. In addition, such a mesh system is advantageous for owners of smart home products, as the products communicate with each other more quickly.
Wifi 6e adds a third band to the mix. Normally, Wi-Fi routers support 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, but Wi-Fi 6e also supports the 6 GHz band.
