Netflix is constantly looking for new series. This is to bind the viewers. That is also necessary, because the company is not really in a good position. They lose a lot of subscribers and the costs go up. This has an effect on the stock price that it is not really rosy. Anyway, Netflix has been working on this series since 2018.
Netflix and ‘Cyberpunk 2077’
The streaming service and CD Projekt Red have unveiled the first trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, their anime series based on Cyberpunk 2077. The companies first announced the project in 2020 and have been developing it since 2018. to show first images. Why this has to take so long is unknown.
The 10-episode story revolves around a street kid turned mercenary edgerunner and is set in Night City, “a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future,” the description reads. CD Projekt Red is co-producing the project with showrunner Rafal Jaki (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077), but the animation will be done by Japan-based company Studio Trigger. It will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the founder of Studio Trigger, and Hiromi Wakabayashi will do the character design.

In such a series, the studio is very important. The qualities make or break the series. Studio Trigger is known for its wild anime designs. But also for “raw” stories with projects such as Kill la Kill and Promare.
It seems that the new series also falls into this list. The series should be finished in September and then Netflix will stream it. Below are the first images.
