On Monday December 2nd you can expect a loud and piercing alarm sound from your phone. Do not panic! On this day, an NL-Alert control message will be broadcast throughout the Netherlands. This message is sent to all mobile phones.
If a disaster occurs in the Netherlands, the government can alert you and give you advice via NL-Alert. There is also good news for people without a mobile phone. There are more and more digital advertising screens and digital departure boards of the bus, tram and metro on which the NL-Alert message can be seen. The notification always tells you what is going on, what you need to do and where you can find more information or updates. The previous control message was sent on June 3, 2019. This message was received by more than 11.7 million people aged 12 and older.
