The music is one of the things that made GTA Vice City so good
Together with Need for Speed Underground (try to deny that you are still going on in 2021 Get Low) few other games have immortalized so many songs on a given generation as GTA. Especially the songs in Vice City you can still eat in 60 years despite complete dementia. With the radio station Flash FM blasting through its fictional Miami counterpart would be reason enough to buy the remaster. But there is a caveat: some well-known songs are missing.
The reason why not all songs from the original make a return to the remaster is unknown. It must have something to do with the licenses. Rockstar released a full list of songs for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and the site push square made a handy overview with all the numbers. TopGear has translated that overview into an overview with all missing numbers in the GTA Vice City-remaster.
Well-known names are missing
Top players such as Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie have been removed from the game, unfortunately. Radio station V-Rock cuts the most, there are no fewer than eight songs missing. Luckily there are hits like Owner of a Lonely Heart and Out of Touch in it.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, the bundle of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas out today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There are already some live streams on the well-known channels if you don’t know yet whether it is worth it. Unfortunately, Rockstar didn’t bake a multiplayer mode into the remaster – otherwise it would have been a no brainer.
