The ranking of hospitals chosen by future doctors (interns) is not surprising. This year again, it crowns the Hospices de Lyon, followed by the Nantes and Grenoble CHUs.
The Hospices Civils de Lyon will again this year remain the University Hospital Center (CHU) popular with medical students who passed the national classifying tests (ECN) in 2014 and who have just started their internship.
They were 8,304 to be assigned in November 2014 in one of the 30 specialties and in one of the 28 university hospitals. The magazine for young doctors, What’s Up Doc, revealed the ranking of the preferred university hospitals for interns.
Interns prefer Paris to Marseille
After Lyon, which preserves its first place, the most chosen CHUs are those of Nantes and Grenoble. The best progresses are to be honored by the University Hospital of Tours (11th place) and Nancy (14th place) which each gain 5 places. The last three in this ranking are Poitiers (27) and Limoges (28). It was the University Hospital of Amiens which experienced the most beautiful fall: it fell six places and reached 26th place.
Regarding the large CHUs, Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) and Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Marseille (AP-HM), they rank respectively 8th and 17th.

Ophthalmology at the top of the demand for interns
In addition, in this second edition of its ranking, What’s Up Doc also unveils the specialties most popular with future doctors. Not surprisingly, and like last year, ophthalmology comes first, followed by dermatology / venereology and cardiology.
The least attractive specialties are medical biology (28), public health (29) and occupational medicine (30).
