On the eve of the launch of trocundoc.com, 1,000 doctors registered on this site to find a replacement. An original tool to fight against medical deserts.
“Finally a real site for replacing doctors (phew, it was about time!). Attention imminent launch! Replacements and replaced, get ready ”. This is the message posted on Twitter by the creators of the site “trocundoc.com“.
On the eve of the launch of this platform designed as one more tool to fight against medical deserts, Marie Bigourdan (1), general medicine intern, at the origin of the project, told us her ambition: “to fight against the shortage of doctors in some regions ”. A major challenge since in ten years, France has, for example, lost 3,500 general practitioners, while the population has grown by 3 million people.
What is your concept?
Marie Bigourdan : We decided to launch this site after noting the lack of an effective site centralizing doctor job offers. Our concept is therefore to facilitate the connection between replacement doctors and replaced doctors, or to help recruiters of doctors within institutions. It was found that often this task was complicated. Especially in certain regions and in certain departments.
Our tool also concerns retired doctors who are looking for a replacement in the context of a succession, or even associations, collaborations, etc.
What is the profile of the practitioners registered on your site?
Marie Bigourdan : Today, we are at 1000 registrations on the site. The profile of the registrants is about 200 replaced for 800 replacements or future replacements. All are doctors, general practitioners or specialists. At present, private registrations that were intended to inform people of the launch of our site are closed. Now we are in the time of publishing the announcements.
These have already started well since about thirty have been posted and almost all the territories are represented. Brittany however concentrates a lot of announcements. Perhaps because it is one of those areas where we are looking for a lot of doctors. Our ultimate goal is to register thousands of announcements.
Is your site free?
Marie Bigourdan : Our site is 100% free. Anyone can post an ad. To get into our operating costs, we will surely create a “premium” offer in which the ad posted by a person will always remain at the top of the list. It is under study.
How did doctors greet the launch of your site?
Marie Bigourdan : We have the impression of a craze, with a fairly massive return from doctors. The information clearly circulated well. Most importantly, they are happy to now have a site that is easy to use, and that makes it possible to find a replacement in three clicks, even in places where doctors are desperate to abandon their patients while on leave. Until now, they were often forced to go through Facebook or Le Bon Coin, sites that were not originally designed for this.
(1) Marie Bigourdan was external in Paris 6 and is now internal in general medicine in Nantes.
