Following the death of their child during childbirth last June in Dourdan, the parents decided to file a complaint against the maternity ward, in which dysfunctions were noted.
The parents of the infant who died last June at the maternity hospital in Dourdan (Essonne) intend to file a complaint against the structure. “The hospital must admit its mistake and be condemned,” said Cindy, the mother, to our colleagues at the Parisian. “They stole my son and lied to me. “
The pregnancy, however, proceeded normally. But shortly before the birth, the child presented by the breech. Worried, the mother requested a cesarean, refused by the midwife present that day. It was during work that the situation got complicated. The umbilical cord came before the child.
Cord procidence is very rare: it concerns a maximum of 0.6% of deliveries. It presents a high risk for the child: the cord is compressed between the cervix and the baby’s head. Most often, the newborn is delivered by cesarean section. This situation requires urgent intervention.
The midwife did well with this caesarean. The baby was then evacuated to another hospital, where he died 18 days later. The parents denounce a late taking charge of the situation. According to the mom, the staff did not listen to her fears.
On the maternity side, management has not commented on this decision. The childbirth activity of the structure is however suspended by order of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Île-de-France until the structure is brought up to standard.
