After catching a devastating virus, one-year-old Marwa suffers extensive neurological damage and her vital organs are in dire straits. The medical team at the Timone hospital in Marseille therefore placed her on respiratory assistance and plunged into an artificial coma.
Last week, the team was even considering unplugging the little girl. But, ready to do anything to keep his baby alive, Father Mohamed Bouchenafa had seized the administrative court of Marseille, and had got a reprieve.
Earlier this week, the girl’s father posted a message on social networks to announce that Marwa had woken up. He specifies that she reacts to his voice and seems to follow him with her eyes.
“She opens and closes one eye. Her treatment continues, but we see progress every day, and that gives us a lot of hope. When I talk to her, she hears my voice, she reacts, sometimes she even smiles.”, Mohamed Bouchenafa told daily Nice-Matin.
