A judicial investigation against X was opened for “aggravated deception, unintentional injury and endangering of others” within the framework of the Levothyrox file, this medicine is prescribed for patients who have thyroid disorders. It was entrusted to a judge from the public health center of the Marseille TGI, whose jurisdiction extends to Lyon, the French headquarters of the German laboratory Merck which produces this drug.
7,000 complaints were filed
In the context of a judicial investigation, the judge’s mission is to investigate the case against and against him, which means that he has an obligation to seek both evidence of innocence and of guilt of persons suspected of ” having committed the acts which motivated the opening of the judicial investigation.
For their part, the victims’ associations will be able to become a civil party, have access to the file and make requests for medical expertise.
