This is in celebration of their 90th anniversary. Lego has returned the themes of space and castle in sets oozing with nostalgic joy.
Almost everyone still has a set Lego at home, or at least ever had Lego in his or her hands. And if you grew up in the eighties, you’ve been building spaceships or castles. Exactly these two of the brand’s most iconic and beloved themes are now returning.
Classic Lego sets
To celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary, Lego is reviving and rediscovering both themes with two new sets that will be impossible to resist for those who have played with Lego for decades.
Let’s start with the Lego Lion Knights castle. Based on the 627-piece Lego King’s Castle first released in 1984, the new Lego Lion Knights’ Castle contains more than seven times as many parts as the original. And it is without a doubt the most detailed and complex medieval construction Lego has ever made.
The other Lego box is a spaceship. 43 years later, the original Galaxy Explorer has been resurrected as a new set of 1,246 parts. It also carries on the blue and gray color scheme of the original, as well as those beautifully retro yellow tinted awnings. The ship also has the same delta wing design as the original. The three landing legs are now fully retracted and the living compartments inside are accessed via a retractable ramp that can also be used to deploy a rover. The new Galaxy Explorer includes four classic astronaut minifigures in red and white suits, plus a robot companion.
Birthday
Lego’s birthday is celebrated with these two sets. You can already pre-order the spaceship. You have to wait a little longer for the castle, you can order it from 8 August.
