EGID (European Genomic Institute for Diabetes) is the first research institute in France dedicated specifically to diabetes, obesity and associated risk factors.
By pooling their resources and skills, researchers aim to achieve major breakthroughs in the understanding of these diseases, their diagnoses and their therapeutic treatments.
Remember that diabetes is a public health problem that affects 200 million people around the world. In Europe, it has become a major cause of death (cardiovascular disease) and disability (blindness, amputation, etc.). France has 3 million diabetics, or about 5% of the population.
