Prince’s Day 2015 and healthcare
More money goes to healthcare, according to the Speech from the Throne. But where are the millions going?
King: “Everyone wants to grow old healthy and independently. If that is no longer possible at any time, people want to be able to count on good support and care for a dignified old age. A structural amount of 210 million euros will be made available to improve care in nursing homes and make room for more personal attention.”
Plan:
– Patients in a nursing home receive an extra 1,000 euros per year for daytime activities. In practice, this should ensure that the residents receive the attention of a supervisor for one hour every five days.
– 133 million will be made available for better care in nursing homes and 100 million for the training of staff in nursing homes.
King: “Many measures have just come into effect. The big task now is to implement them properly and carefully, paying attention to unintended and undesired consequences, especially for the most vulnerable. The government will work intensively on this in the coming years. Where people get into trouble, adjustments are needed, such as with the personal budget.”
Plan:
– 20 million will be made available for personal budgets (pgb). The money is used to compensate for problems surrounding the PGB reforms.
And further:
– The increase in health insurance is slightly lower than expected. It was predicted 10 euros, but now people speak of 7 euros. The deductible, which has been rising sharply for years, now only grows in line with inflation.
– The health care allowance will increase for some groups. Which groups is not yet clear.
