Kia is preparing a large electric SUV that could be called the EV7. Here is what we already know about this future “zero emission” alternative to the Sorento, which could offer more than 500 hp and display an autonomy greater than 500 km depending on the version.
With the EV6 crossover, Kia has just launched the first of seven electric models announced in September 2020 for the 2027 horizon. The next representative of this family could be a large SUV called EV7. The size of this family adventurer would place him between the Sportage and the Sorento. But, thanks to its architecture, the vehicle could offer seven seats and an interior space worthy of the second.

An architecture already known
Like the EV6, and its future “cousin” the Hyundai Ioniq 7, the Kia EV7 is expected to be based on the Hyundai Group’s modular E-GMP platform. It could therefore be offered with one or two motors and thus two or four driving wheels. The autonomy of the model could peak around 500 km in the WLTP cycle for the most optimized version in this area, while the most powerful model could offer more than 500 hp. The EV7 is shaping up to be a competitor to the Tesla Model X and Volkswagen ID.6.
Few curves for this electric SUV
From illustrations published as teaser by Kia and the design of the EV6, we can already get an idea of what the EV7 will look like. The SUV promises to be massive and angular, with marked horizontal lines and prominent wheel arches. Large, flat surfaces will contrast with intricately designed sills and give the car a relatively clean look. The rear quarter windows could go up to the rear to add dynamism. The grille should be thin and some details, such as the shape of the air intakes and the rims, will be designed to reduce aerodynamic drag, and therefore energy consumption. The Kia EV7 could be unveiled in 2023 for marketing in 2024.
