More advanced, more luxurious and better off-road
This is the fifth generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and of course it’s more advanced and luxurious than ever before. For example, both the co-driver and the passengers in the back will now have a screen in front of their nose. As a driver, you are assisted by modern driving assistance and protected by 110 advanced safety systems. A lot.
It should also be better at off-roading than the fourth generation. To live up to that claim, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee has been extensively tested on the Rubicon Trail in California. It has new anti-roll bars and riding modes to help you get off the beaten track. You also get an electronic differential lock and Quadra-lift air suspension. With the latter you have the option of a ride height of 28.7 centimeters and you can drive through puddles of water 61 centimeters deep. That is 10 centimeters more than the outgoing model.
The offer of the Jeep Grand Cherokee
If you only want a petrol engine, you have two choices. The first option is a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 hp and 353 Nm. You can also opt for a 5.7-liter V8 with 357 hp and 529 Nm. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will also be available as a 4xe and Trailhawk 4xe. These plug-in hybrids offer a fully electric range of 40 kilometers.
The previous version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was no longer available in the Netherlands for some time. The arrival of the 4xe versions is therefore good news for us, because it offers opportunities in terms of low emissions. You should be able to drive 712 kilometers on a full tank. The towing weight of the Grand Cherokee is 3,265 kilos.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee will come to markets outside the United States in 2022. We eagerly await whether the Netherlands will also be one of those markets.
