A baby girl was born with a second head in her stomach and a third hand at her breast level. She could be saved.
A new clinical case is of interest to the international press. That of a little girl born in India at Ram Snehi hospital, in the north of the country, with a notable feature: two heads and three hands. According to Daily Mail, which reports the facts and uploads photos before and after the surgery, the newborn baby had a second head coming out of his stomach, as well as a third hand at the level of his chest.
The baby’s second head had a pair of eyes, a mouth, and a nose, but was not viable. It was actually reminiscent of another fetus that had not been able to develop in the mother’s womb, and some anatomies had grafted onto the other viable baby.

“Fœtus in fetu”
This is called the “fetus in fetu”. This relatively rare anomaly was first described by German anatomist Johann Friedrich Meckel at the end of the 18th century. Since then, around 100 cases have been reported in the literature.
Usually both fetuses die before birth, but if this is not the case the “parasitic” fetus may remain inside its host for years, which can give rise to stories. each more supernatural than the next.
So it is with this woman who, at the age of 45, found her twin in her ovary, or even this little four-year-old boy who had his twin’s “fossilized” fetus removed from his womb.
In the most recent case, the large size of the “remnants” of the fetus could have affected the survival of the newly born baby girl. However, after four hours of surgery, doctors managed to separate the second head from the newborn’s womb and sever the third hand. Finally, the little girl, freed from this imposing heritage, is doing well.
