Take into account per capita income, individual freedoms, healthy life expectancy, social benefits … this tool Simple Assessment, known as the Cantril Scale, provides researchers with the information needed for an overall assessment of happiness.
This is how the World happiness report assesses the state of contentment in the world. And in 2016, without much surprise, it is again Denmark which is placed at the top of the ranking with an average 7,526 out of 10.
Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden complete the top ten places.
France in 32nd place
Among the European countries we find then Austria (12th position), Germany (16th position), Belgium (18th position), Ireland (19th position), Luxembourg (20th position), the United Kingdom ( 23rd position). And you have to go down to 32nd place in the world to find France.
At the bottom of the ranking
Among the countries which occupy the end of the World Happiness ranking, we find: Vietnam (96th) Somalia (97th), Tunisia (98th), Greece (99th), Tajikistan (100th) and finally Mongolia, the Laos, Nigeria, Honduras, Iran and Zambia (with an average of 4,795 out of 10).
