Huh! This motorcycle can drive both on the road and on the track

We here at Apparata have a slight preference for traveling by car instead of the train. But this innovative device could change that. However, the Dutch government will not approve it anytime soon.

Engine for the track

We call the the railroad motorcycle. Yes, it sounds like something that doesn’t exist (yet). And that’s right. Artist Heqi Wang has come up with a unique solution for rail travel. This can be convenient for rail maintenance employees, for example, but also for commuters. It has designed a dual-use electric motor that can easily jump on the track and also serve as a stylish ride on ordinary roads.

The design of the bike is rather futuristic. It comes with hubless wheels and, unlike regular motorcycles, the long wheelbase is shifted forward instead of back. In railway mode, the sliding panels on the side move to click on the rails. It also stands out in its bright orange color. This makes you stand out, especially on the railways that are usually not well lit.

In road mode, the rider only needs to move the sliding panels back to their up position. In order to maintain balance during sharp turns at high speeds, the electric motor of the bicycle is placed in the middle.

The idea is still an idea. So we won’t see it speeding past when you’re standing on the platform waiting for the next train.
