Gardasil, a vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV), has already been reimbursed for girls since 2007. Since December 4, it is also reimbursed for boys aged 11 to 14 years. Recommended for girls from 11 to 14 years old and in catch-up between 15 and 19 years old, Gardasil helps protect against cervical cancer caused by certain types of HPV. On December 16, 2019, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) updated its recommendations by declaring itself in favor of the expansion of vaccination against papillomavirus in boys in the French vaccination schedule: “for boys aged 11 to 14 years old. according to a 2-dose schedule, with a catch-up possible for all adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 19 years old according to a 3-dose schedule. Maintaining a specific vaccine recommendation by GARDASIL for men who have sex with men up to the age of 26, according to a 3-dose schedule ”.
A vaccine that prevents many cancers
