The electronic cigarette works under the action of the clearomizer (or “atomizer”) It is powered by a battery and allows the production of vapor via the liquid called “e-liquid”. When we inhale, the clearomizer is triggered and mixes the liquid with the air we breathe in to disperse in the form of vapor which is similar to the smoke of a traditional cigarette. The evaporation of propylene glycol simply simulates smoke which is ultimately only vapor and provides the throat with a sensation close to that of a conventional cigarette.
The desired goal? The whole concept of the electronic cigarette is in fact governed in such a way as to reproduce the sensations of a traditional cigarette and therefore to continue to smoke but by removing the harmfulness of tobacco. Psychologically, the smoker maintains his ritual, that is to say his gestures and the pleasure of producing smoke without a harmful odor. The electronic cigarette, unlike other officially recognized nicotine substitutes, therefore makes it possible to maintain psychological dependence while gradually reducing the level of nicotine.
What does it contain? More or less pure nicotine. Often three rates are available and some cartridges are nicotine free, but real smokers most often need to vape e-cigarettes with nicotine. Indeed, it is this which is used to promote the “hit”, this famous sensation of contraction of the throat during the passage of the vapor so appreciated by the smokers. They also contain an artificial flavor (of tobacco to keep a similar taste, or other flavors) which brings all the taste flavor. There is also propylene glycol, a chemical additive, with no known serious side effects.
Are the benefits proven? According to some users, the electronic cigarette would reduce or even stop tobacco consumption, apparently with less difficulty initially than smoking cessation methods. But this has not yet been scientifically proven. What’s more, what we tend to overlook are the environmental benefits. The electronic cigarette is a recyclable device that does not produce harmful smoke, but a simple vapor.
