Two months ago my ankle broke in two places. I had surgery on it a week later. I still walk with a walker. How long will it take before I can do everything without the rollator again?
Joris Bartstra, journalist with a medical degree.
Do you walk with the rollator because of the pain, or because you are afraid that something will break again? The surgeon must have said something about the latter. You can assume that after an operation with ‘pins and screws’ you can almost always use weight again after three months; often earlier. But with age, all recovery is slower. If in doubt, call the department where you had your surgery. If you have persistent pain, I would go to a physiotherapist. He knows all kinds of exercises to reduce the complaints.
