An overnight stay at the South Pole in a Millennium Falcon inspired pod. It’s going to cost you at least a few annual salaries!
How much does it cost to spend a night at the South Pole in a luxurious yet tiny pod? The unprecedentedly barren continent is as beautiful as it is dangerous. With average temperatures of maximum -30 degrees Celsius in the summer it is not easy to stay warm there. It is therefore not surprising that a midweek quickly costs two annual salaries!
Overnight stay at the South Pole
Anyone with tens of thousands of euros in their pocket can staying at White Desert Echo Camp† The camp is located in the middle of a huge plain at the South Pole. The Sky Pods are made with fiberglass and contain a desk, sofa and large bed. Of course, the habitats are heated.
One of the sides of the pod is made of glass, so you can look out at the vast plain from your bed. In the center of the camp is a communal area, where guests can enjoy a starred dinner made by a private chef.
Maybe look for a Social Deal?
All of this, of course, is not cheap. In fact, the cheapest option for an overnight stay in the South Pole will cost you at least €58,000 for a few nights and then you have to get there first in Cape Town! Unfortunately, this option is already sold out at all.
The cheapest option still available at the time of writing costs over €96,000 for 7 nights! Maybe just keep an eye on Social Deal to see if there are still any last-minute tickets for the South Pole? Or perhaps book a dozen cheaper trips.
