Anyone who searches the internet for a good dentist will soon lose track of the enormous amount of information. We help you on your way. A guide to searching and finding.
There is a specialist for every dental problem. We can choose from dentists specialized in implantology, cosmetic dentistry, prosthetics (dentures), endodontics (root canal treatment), periodontology (gum problems), teeth whitening, there is even biological dentistry. And are you afraid of the dentist? Then you can go to the anxiety dentist. Some dentists can treat you under anesthesia or even under hypnosis.
Where can I find a dentist?
on www.tandarts.nl you can find a dentist by specialty in your area. Here you can also find information about the costs and explanation of various treatments, including via videos. You can also find a dentist on the website of the professional association Dutch Society for the Promotion of Dentistry (NMT): www.tandartsennet.nl.
How do I know if a dentist is of good quality? It is not yet possible to look up the ‘good dentist’. You can, however, check whether your dentist has registered with the Quality Register for Dentists (KRT). www.krt.nu. With this quality mark, dentists show that they stand for optimal dental care in their practice: for example, they follow refresher courses, have a complaints procedure, and work at least 14 hours a week. Half of all dentists are registered with the KRT. Registration is voluntary; not being registered does not mean that the dentist does not provide good quality.
How do I find out the professional competence of a dentist?
Every dentist can call himself an implantologist, endodontist or periodontist. Want to make sure they take their craft seriously? On the website of the Dutch Association for Oral Implantology (NVOI) there is an overview of dentists affiliated with this association: www.nvoi.nl. Recognized periodontology can be found on the website of the Dutch Association for Periodontology (NVVP):
www.nvvp.com, and recognized endodentologists at those of the Dutch Association for Endodontics (NVVE): www.nvve.com.
Where can I go with questions about dental treatments? How do I get whiter teeth? Is a crown the best solution for me? Are there any other treatments available? For questions like this, you can call the Dental Information Point (TIP): T 0900-202 50 12 (€0.15 per minute).
