While the majority of French people (72%) have a good image of hospitalsits image has tended to deteriorate in recent years, according to the results of an Odoxa survey. At 28%, poor image has increased by 8 points in one year.
An uncertain future for care
This survey reveals to us that the French who are less confident of the public authorities believe by a large majority (75%) that healthcare in France will deteriorate in the future. It also reveals that only 33% of French people feel that this question of the future of health establishments is taken into account by the public authorities.
Similarly, respondents seem worried about their health. Indeed, they negatively judge the course of care and, more generally, the place of the patient and the “patients-doctors-hospitals” relationship.
The hospital of tomorrow, seen by the French
The French see in theambulatory the future of the hospital. The majority (85%) declared “to be ready to accept outpatient hospitalization for an operation and, in the event of a serious pathology”, and two-thirds of French people (64%) would prefer “to be cared for at home and only go from time to time to the hospital “.
In the future, the French are also thinking about connected health. 85% of respondents are convinced “that the development of digital tools in the health field will improve the patient’s journey to the hospital”.
To improve the quality of care and the performance of hospitals, half (52%) of French people said they preferred to have access to a large decentralized hospital, but grouping together many specialties. 69% would be ready to give up having a nearby establishment on condition of having better quality and greater safety of care.
They also said they were for the GHTs (territorial hospital groups) “for access to care for all (75%), to deal with medical deserts (74%) or even to [le]health system in general (76%)”.
