A 45-year-old man in conflict with the hospital allegedly found a homophobic note in his room. He files a complaint against X.
“We do not treat gays”. Hospitalized for a digestive pathology, Stéphane Clavier, 45, found this message in his hospital room in mid-July. “We went out with my husband to smoke a cigarette, and when we went back upstairs, we discovered a piece of paper on the bedside table”, specifies the patient for France Bleu Berry, that relates the story.
The old waiter decided not to stop there. He seized the Public Prosecutor of Bourges, in order to file a complaint against X – and not directly against the hospital – for homophobia. “It hurts to see this kind of behavior. We are there to be treated, not to be judged, ”he said.
The couple explained that they detected a hostile atmosphere during their stay in the hospital. “In the morning, for example, at breakfast, instead of saying ‘Hello sir’, it was: ‘What do you want?’ with a rather insistent look. We did not feel in our place ”.
A strained relationship
However, this is not the first time that the patient has visited the Jacques Coeur Hospital Center in Bourges. He has been followed there for 16 years for pathologies in the stomach and intestines. This was his seventh hospitalization, and he has seen more than 70 times, according to hospital management.
