Some people are more susceptible to bloating than others. To suffer as little as possible, several foods should be avoided.
- To avoid bloating, it is important to take the time to eat and chew your food well.
- Regular physical activity is essential for the proper functioning of the digestive system.
They only last a few hours but can be very unpleasant… Bloating or flatulence correspond to an accumulation of gas in the stomach and intestines which result in a swelling of the belly. Some people are particularly sensitive to it. Doctors generally advise them to analyze their diet over the long term to identify what is causing bloating and, ultimately, avoid consuming them. So far, there are no real drug solutions.
Raw vegetables
Several foods are known to cause bloating. First, raw vegetables, which are difficult to digest and irritating to the intestine. Nevertheless, you should not stop eating them, because these fiber-rich foods are very good for your health. The best way to prevent them from causing bloating is to peel them and cut them into small pieces to facilitate digestion.
As for vegetables, the list of those that can make your stomach swell is quite long: broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, leeks, legumes (chickpeas, red beans, lentils), tomatoes, etc. But again, no way to stop eating it. Nutritionists generally recommend that patients eat them peeled and cooked. In this way, vegetables – but also fruits, stewed for example – will be easier to digest. The ideal is also to always do them cook without fat and then add it.
white bread
Another enemy of people prone to bloating: white bread, whose flour is difficult to digest. To accompany your meals, it is therefore better to take wholemeal bread.
Sugar
Side desserts, refined sugar promotes inflammation of the intestine, which can swell the belly. It is therefore recommended not to abuse foods or drinks containing too much sugar such as cakes, chocolate, sodas, fruit juices and alcohol. Coffee should also be consumed in moderation.
The allies
There are also naturally anti-inflammatory foods, the consumption of which can relieve bloating. This is the case with certain herbal teas, with fennel or marshmallow, for example. Oils too, such as rapeseed or flax, because they are rich in omega 3, natural anti-inflammatories. Finally, turmeric, ginger, sprouted pumpkin seeds, raw onion or even blackcurrant are also recommended to limit bloating.
Last advice to take care of your belly: avoid excess! Excessive quantities of food are always more difficult to digest… and can therefore cause bloating.
