Two investigations were opened after the discovery of a patient who died on the premises of the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, 4 days after his disappearance.
A patient, initially hospitalized at the Sainte-Anne Hospital Center in Paris, was transferred on Wednesday January 25, 2017 to the internal medicine department of the Georges Pompidou European Hospital (HEGP). So far nothing surprising.
But a few days later, on the morning of January 28, 2017, this patient disappeared. His absence from the internal medicine department, where he was being cared for, is indeed noted by all the healthcare teams. This proven disappearance is therefore logically reported to the family and to the supervisory authorities on the same day, at midday. The Police Station of 15th arrondissement is also warned. The usual procedure then takes place.
From January 28 in the early afternoon, the security services of the establishment inspected the premises of the entire hospital, indicates a statement. This search was repeated on Sunday 29. Teams from the Fire Safety and Personal Assistance Service also carried out rounds for three days! Research that did not yield any result. The disappearance was still confirmed on Monday.
Days of rounds in vain
That day, new rounds were still carried out by the security services of the hospital. The HEGP teams also spoke with the AP-HP missing persons search unit, the 15thdistrict and the Crime Suppression Brigade to the person also in contact with the patient’s family. In vain, still no trace of the patient.
It was on Tuesday, January 31, that a morbid rebound occurred, when a hospital security officer found the patient, deceased, during a round-up carried out at midday, “without the ‘we do not understand, at this stage, why the patient had not been spotted during the previous rounds, ”specifies the Ap-HP.
To clarify this matter, a police investigation was immediately opened in order to understand the exact circumstances of this tragedy. A support unit has also been set up, in connection with the service. Finally, a fact-finding and analysis mission is launched to find answers to the many questions raised by this disappearance.
