Health: a mobile game to inform young people of their rights

Capturing a young audience

The concept of the “serious game” is recent and acclaimed by young people. For the designers of this game, it is the ideal tool for conveying information to 16-25 year olds. Magalie Aveline, co-creator of the game, explains on the site of 20 minutes : “it seemed to us to be the most modern tool, capable of capturing this population, making the subject sympathetic. Health rights do not necessarily make people dream or want”.

A game in the form of an SMS conversation

To use this game, you have to download the application, then the player chooses one of the characters and will follow his evolutions, through SMS conversations that are displayed. During the exchanges, questions are asked about health, refunds, etc. The objective is to present very concrete situations to answer the possible questions of young people. Among the themes addressed in the first episodes, there is the choice of the attending physician, free and informed consent, or the difficulties of access to care. At the end of the exchanges, a page is displayed and summarizes the various information provided, while referring to useful sites for more information.

New episodes to come

The application seems to seduce its audience since it is rated 4.4/5 on the Apple Store. For the moment, only two fifteen-minute episodes are available, but according to the creators of the game, new episodes should be designed to continue the game.
