Secure and tamper-proof, in credit card format, a single card will replace the paper format currently issued to disabled people.
Disability cards are getting a makeover. From 1er January 2017, these “disability, priority and parking cards for disabled people” will be replaced by the first mobility-inclusion cards. The text introducing this new provision was published today in the Official Journal.
“This decree, which responds to a commitment made by the President of the Republic at the National Conference on Disability of December 11, 2014, falls within the framework of the law for a digital Republic”, specifies the Ministry of Health in a statement.
Secure, tamper-proof
Thus, the single, secure and tamper-proof card, in credit card format, will gradually replace the paper-based cards currently issued to people with disabilities: disability, priority and parking cards.
The mobility-inclusion card, which maintains the rights attached to the three cards which it replaces, will allow its holders to see their rights more easily recognized, specifies the ministry.
“Concretely, when a person holding a parking card will also hold a disability or priority card, two cards will be provided to him: one can thus remain on the windshield of the car, and the ‘other may be taken away by its owner.
Put an end to fraud
The production of the new card has been entrusted to the Imprimerie Nationale, which will provide it with all current security. It will be manufactured in 48 hours and shipped directly to people’s homes, specifies the legislative text.
“People with disabilities have long awaited the modernization of this card which will put an end to the various frauds of which they were victims: false cards, or use of the card by a third party. The creation of this card is a strong act of modernization and simplification which will facilitate the daily life of millions of people ”, rejoices the ministry.
“This new card, simpler and more modern, will make the daily life of people with disabilities easier. It is one of the actions which underline our mobilization to support them in the best conditions ”, declared Marisol Touraine, quoted in the press release.
