Immortalized in an aerial photo
Everyone makes a mistake during working hours, but not everyone’s mistake can be seen from space. Okay, strictly speaking, not all of the images on Google Maps are taken by satellites (they also use airplanes), but at least the blunder is nicely immortalized from above. You look at a branch of the American chain Jiffy Lube, a universal garage where you can have minor repairs performed. An oil change, for example.
It may look like a skilled burnout of a car with an open differential, but the black smudge on the tarmac isn’t a rubber track; it’s a big oil trail. The car left the garage, drove to the parking lot behind the property and parked in it. Parking was fine again. reddit user Warhols spotted the mechanic’s mistake on google maps.
What was the mechanic’s mistake?
Apparently the mechanic forgot to tighten the plug of the oil pan (properly), or maybe the oil filter. Anyway, the entire contents of the engine seem to be on the street. Running an engine with too little oil can cause a lot of damage, but the large stain in the parking space indicates that the engine has not yet run dry. As a customer, we would in any case not be happy.
Other Reddit users found that this is certainly not the only branch of the chain where there is a significant oil trail from the garage to the parking lot. Ex-employees from other branches also comment that the workload at the large chain is often too high and that the risk of errors increases as a result. For car enthusiasts, things like this are often exactly the reason why they don’t go to the cheapest universal garage.
