This is a measure that the Health Insurance has been talking about since June 2016. Please note: from May 1, 2017, the price of the consultation with the general practitioner will increase. The price will now be 25 euros, against 23 euros currently. And for children under the age of 6, the medical consultation will go from 28 euros to 30 euros.
This revaluation of 2 euros comes after a 5-month-long negotiation between Social Security and the main doctors’ unions – the Federation of Doctors of France (FMF), the French Federation of General Practitioners (MG France) and the National Union of general practitioners (Unof). The objective: to reduce the use of excess fees. This tariff had not been increased since 2011; according to Health Insurance this increase could “not be final”.
Other health professionals are also concerned by this revaluation: thus, from July 2017, the consultation with the psychiatrist, with the neuropsychiatrist or with the neurologist will go from 37 to 39 €. And in November 2017, the visit to the cardiologist will go from 45.73 to 47.73 €.
Also from November, young girls aged 15 to 18 will have to pay €46 for the first consultation for contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This rate will also be applied for parents of children aged 3 to 12 at proven risk of obesity, as well as for the three compulsory infant consultations.
Good news for the patients, it is the Social Security and the mutuals who will pay this difference… Phew!
