In addition to strengthening vital energy (qi), Shou-Zu would relieve certain pains and act on blockages at the physical, emotional or mental level. It would be particularly effective on acute and recent pain. Unlike plantar reflexology which works on reflex zones corresponding to organs, Shou-Zu works on resonance points corresponding both to organs and to energy functions (meridians, chakras …), psychic and emotional energies, mental and spiritual energies … Generally, a sharp pain identified on the hand or on the foot indicates an area of resonance in imbalance in the body. Stimulation of the painful point will then unblock several nerve endings which correspond to muscle tension in sensitive areas of the body. Hence immediate pain relief in some cases.
