Breathe in, breathe out, you’re done: 431 pharmacies, in association with pulmonologists, offer free access to breath tests throughout France from September 16 to 18, on the occasion of the Souffle Festival. Specific devices allow measure breathing capacity in a simple, fast and completely painless way. Possible lung problems such as respiratory failure can then be detected.
The French Language Pneumology Society (SPLF), organizer of the event, recommends that you perform a breath test if at least one of these ten signs concerns you:
– You quickly get out of breath when you go up the stairs
– You work in a dusty environment, in contact with toxic substances
– You have the impression of lacking oxygen at times
– You are over 40 years old
– You have smoked for more than ten years
– You notice a loss of endurance during your sports activities
– You cough regularly
– You cough up mucus
– You have ever had lung disease
Breath measurement is the easiest way to early detect a respiratory pathology such asasthmaor the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Depending on the result of the breath test, you may be advised to follow up with a specialist.
