How do you motivate people to take a vaccine, perhaps by handing out Bitcoin to vaccinees?
A bizarre story, but this is how things work in Australia. A millionaire in Down Under tries to do his part by convincing people to get a vaccination. And yes, as soon as you start throwing Bitcoins, there are suddenly a striking number of people who do take the step to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Crazy, huh.
This is about one Fred Schebesta. The wealthy man says he is giving away $5 in Bitcoin to people who get vaccinated. He does not do that in dollars, but in Bitcoin. Whoever takes a vaccine gets a piece of Bitcoin out of gratitude. Just like you used to get a sticker from the teacher if you did your best. It’s just a bit more lucrative.
Let’s just say it’s mostly a nice gesture from the millionaire. After all, 5 dollars doesn’t help. Even if Bitcoin continues to rise sharply in the coming months, you can turn that 5 Australian dollars (converted 3 euros) into 20 or 40 dollars. If Australians make massive use of Mr Schebesta’s option, it could become an expensive joke. (through cryptopotato)
