According to a survey carried out by theassociation UFC-What to choose between January 25 and February 1, 2016 and published the following week, on the labeling of 245 food scrutinized based on meat among 13 major French brands and in 7 supermarket chains, no less than 54% of these products do not mention theorigin of the meate. The scandal over lasagna on horseback would not have caused a reaction!
If 70% of products based on beef indicate the native country, 74% of products based on chicken and 57% of products based on pork do not contain any mention !
Fortunately, some brands are saving furniture like Le Gaulois, Charal, Marie, Findus and Zapetti with 100% of the products correctly labeled. Unlike Daunat, Père Dodu, and Sodebo who achieve 0% of correctly labeled products, congratulations to them!
Regarding distributors, 84% of Intermarché products indicate the origin of the meat compared to 25% at Leader Price.
What new scandal are they waiting to finally mention the oexact meat ?
The UFC-Que Choisir for its part, with this survey, demands that European Parliamentarians vote broadly in favor of the traceability and that labeling regulations become mandatory mentioning the‘national origin in the processed products.
