Fans of the Mars group’s variations of chocolate bars in milk drinks will have to reduce their consumption. Indeed, the 350 ml versions with a sports cap and whose expiry date is between 19/12/2014 and 11/04/2015 would be infected by a bacterium, Bacillus Subtilis and were withdrawn from the market by the Mars group.
Risks of food poisoning
Manufactured by a German company, these drinks could “pose risks to health, due to the possible presence of a bacterium known under the name of bacillus Subtilis” indicated the group Mars in a press release.
Although this bacteria, which is usually found in soils, is not supposed to be very active, it can still cause food poisoning.
“People who hold these products are asked not to consume them,” announced Mars Chocolate Drinks in a press release. The manufacturer also claims to have “contacted the authorities to (ensure) to follow all the appropriate measures”.
In case of doubt, consumers can reach the Mars chocolate drinks after-sales service by telephone on 09 69 32 06 80 or via a Contact form.
