Last year, the pharmacists from Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, New Aquitaine, Hauts-de-France and Occitanie received theauthorization from the Ministry of Health to vaccinate their clients against the flu. And these trials seem to have met with great success, since many pharmacies that are testing the device announced in December that they were facing a shortage of stocks. The doses had however been increased by 10% compared to 2017.
The results are such that the experiment will now be generalized to the whole of Franceannounced the Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn during her wishes to the press on Tuesday, January 22. “700,000 people were vaccinated against influenza by their pharmacist in the 4 regions of the experiment. The device works very well »she says, quoted by Destination Health. The previous winter, they were 152,000 to go to the office in the two regions tested at the time (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and New-Aquitaine).
Generalized from autumn 2019
Individuals for whom vaccination against influenza is recommended – those over 65, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women and people suffering from morbid obesity, i.e. some 12 million French people – will thus be able to be vaccinated in all pharmacies from autumn 2019. All they have to do is collect their vaccine from the pharmacy, simply by presenting their health insurance voucher. 100% refundedthis one targets this year four strains of influenza virus.
Health authorities also note “a slight increase in the vaccination coverage of people at risk in all regions in mainland France compared to last year”. If it remains insufficient, it went from 41.3 to 42.9%. For the moment, the flu epidemic of winter 2018-2019 mainly affects five regions: Île-de-France, Grand-Est, Occitanie, Bourgogne-France-Comté and Centre-Val of the Loire.
