Intense pulsed light or “flash lamp”
Originally, the Intense Pulsed Light method was mainly used for hair removal. It has spread to other treatments thanks to medical advances in phototherapy. “This technique is used for its overall and homogeneous effect resulting in a few photorejuvenation sessions in improving the texture of the skin, enlarged pores, red spots at the same time as brown spots, and fine lines. On the other hand, this method makes it possible to act on fragile areas such as the neck or the back of the hands ”explains Doctor Lydia Houri of the European Laser Institute. The intense pulsed light or flash lamp is however intended only for superficial tasks, on a marked neckline, for example.
To know
A consultation is preliminary before the treatment. You can use an anesthetic cream before the treatment because there may be a slight heating sensation, not very painful. You will also have to wait until you have lost your possible summer tan before taking action.
The rates applied depend of course on the area to be treated and the nature of the stains: from 180 to 280 euros per session.
Pigment laser or Q-Switched
The laser targets only melanin. It causes tingling that a soothing cream easily relieves and then leads to the formation of dry scabs that quickly fall off, revealing clear skin. The risk of scarring is slim and the skin often gets rid of brown spots in a single session.
To know
Like the flashlight, this treatment cannot be practiced on tanned skin and you will not be allowed to expose yourself to the sun in the following weeks. Also avoid if you have dark skin because there is a risk of depigmentation. Instead of the brown spots, you would have white spots! Count from 150 to 200 euros per session.
