It’s been so mild since the start of winter that the snow is slow to fall. The flu is also missing.
How is the flu spread?
The flu usually multiplies when it is very cold because low temperatures reduce our body’s immune defenses and allow the virus to infiltrate more easily.
The disease, which is highly contagious, can also spread due to lack of ventilation in homes and offices.
49 cases of influenza per 100,000 inhabitants
Last week, according to the latest weekly epidemiological bulletin of the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (Invs), 49 consultations concerning influenza syndromes per 100,000 inhabitants had been recorded. Last year, during this period, 71 consultations for flu symptoms were recorded.
ENT diseases replace influenza cases
Other diseases are multiplying, however, taking advantage of the softness and uncovered necks. Thereby, colds, tonsillitis, nasopharyngitis, otitis, bronchitis and other bronchiolitis, ENT (otorhinolaryngology) or bronchial pathologies, have been circulating throughout France since the start of the winter season.
To avoid these ENT disorders, take care to wash your hands and ventilate your home regularly.
