For several years, the testimonies of personalities suffering from endometriosis (in particular the actress and godmother of the EndoFrance association Laetita Millot) as well as the commitment of experts and patient associations have moved the lines. But that is not enough.
This Tuesday, January 11, the President of the Republic announced the launch of a national strategy against endometriosis “Endometriosis is not a women’s problem, it’s a social problem. The national strategy that we are launching hope for a better quality of life for millions of girls and women” declared Emmanuel Macron in a video posted on social networks.
The launch of this national strategy aims to better understand the disease, which affects one in 10 women, and its causes in order to define new treatments, following the report requested by the Minister of Health Olivier from MEP Chrysoula Zacharopoulou , also (and above all) gynecologist and surgeon, who has been fighting for years against this disease.
Endometriosis.
For Lola, Enora, Sandrine, and millions of other women, it’s physical suffering, it’s also a burden. Because this little-known disease is mixed with loneliness and sometimes shame. So let’s hear this word, let’s change things, let’s share their testimonies: pic.twitter.com/JUDdyaQYVf—Emmanuel Macron (@EmmanuelMacron) January 11, 2022
Three objectives have been set: invest in research to find suitable treatments, define a diagnostic pathway that is accessible to all patients and “develop an endometriosis reflex”, that is to say, make the disease better known. But for the moment no financial envelope has been defined. A national monitoring committee should be set up by February to define the action plan.
